Flight Paramedic – ACP / Nurse
Vanguard Air Care is currently accepting applications from loyal, dedicated, experienced Advance Care Paramedics (ACP) and nurses with energy and a positive attitude to join our aero-medical transport team of dedicated, caring health care providers.
Vanguard Air Care Headquarters is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba and operates out of (4) air ambulance bases strategically located in Manitoba: (Winnipeg, Island Lake, Norway House and Thompson)

Education and Experience Requirements:
Applicants must have successfully graduated with a Nursing deploma or an Advance Care Paramedic Diploma from an Accredited Advance Care Program and have a minimum of 2 years of emergency care experience at an ACP provider.
Current Basic Life Support
Current Advance Cardiac Life Support
Current Pediatric Advance Life Support
Current COVID-19 vaccine required
Current International Trauma Life Support / Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support
CAMATA or equivalent certificate
Other minimum requirements;
Criminal Record including Vulnerable Person clearance
Manitoba Child Abuse Registry clearance
Must be able to be licensed as Aero-medical Attendant with Manitoba Health Emergency Health Services Branch prior to start of employment. Vanguard Air Care will aid in this process to the successful candidates.
Must be able to obtain a Transport Canada RAIC pass
Physically capable of performing the duties of a Flight Medic.
Willing to work in remote locations without supervision
Willing and able to work during various weather conditions
Must provide a valid passport

Demonstrates high critical thinking and reasoning skills and strong attention to detail while working in an environment that requires ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Dependable and self-motivated while working in a frequently changing environment.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
Responsibilities:
The Flight Medic will assess, treat, prepare patient for transport and accompany patients on the Air Ambulance to the receiving facility.
The Flight Medic will perform advance skills and procedures as approved by Vanguard Air Care Medical Director(s) and the Manitoba Office of the Medical Director.
The Flight Medic will be required to be knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by vanguard Air Care. Responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking initial steps to insure repair of equipment as directed.
The Flight Medic will keep the aircraft clean and orderly to insure rapid response to all transport requests.
The Flight Medic will represent Vanguard Air Care and its affiliates in a professional and respectful manner at all times and reports directly to the Director of Medevac Services.
The Flight Medic works closely and effectively with other members of the air ambulance crew to ensure a positive outcome for all stakeholders.
The Flight Medic will maintain his/her documents of required licensure, certifications, continuing education and any other relevant training to his/her scope of practice.
The Flight medic will serve as a role model, educator and clinical resource. Participates in departmental activities, projects and committees.
The Flight Medic will maintain awareness of current issues related to transport care through participation in professional activities.
Schedule:
Full time 14 days on 14 days off rotation.
Preference for employment will be given to those individuals who currently reside in Manitoba or willing to relocate from another province.
